Pink is the color of third Sunday of Advent or the Gaudete Sunday! Pink is the color of joy. We feel happy because Christmas in near. Christ is coming!
What happened when Christ was born 2000 years ago?
There was no room for Joseph and Mary. Our Savior was laid on a manger. The great farm animals were the first witnesses of this wondrous moment. Christ’s first visitors were the shepherds. Nothing special. Bethlehem was sleeping quietly while humankind receive the best gift from God.
However, the Gospel reading tells us the reason for our joy this Advent. St. Matthew quotes Isaiah:
“the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news brought to them” (Mt 11: 3-4)
Matthew tells us the miracles that would happen when that little Baby on the manger grows up. The great work of that innocent Baby is to give us joy – to make every one of us feel the joy of God’s love.
A traditional song, a favorite of my Grade 1 students, reminds us to prepare our hearts to receive Jesus, and to be joyful this Christmas.Vodpod videos no longer available.
